FUN Team: Join the FUN Makers
It’s not too late to lend your FUN-finding talents to next quarter’s FUN Team. This group will serve during June, July and August and will focus on making Father’s Day and the Fireworks at Five Oaks events memorable and laced with, well, fun. Women: not too late to join our summer study
Join us for a summer study called Breath: The Life of God in Us, by Beth Moore. A six-week video series that examines the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. June Book Club will examine Afghan culture
Want to learn about Afghan culture and compare the teachings of Isa Masih (Jesus Christ) with those of Muhammad? Join us for a discussion of Freedom’s Stand by Jeanette Windle. June 14, 6:45 pm, Fireside Commons. All are welcome!

 

Journeymen to study Andy Stanley’s “Destinations”
Men, join us on Saturday mornings in June for a study of “Destinations.” In this 4-part series, Andy Stanley examines the disconnect between our dreams and the paths we take to reach them; and we learn that our direction, not our intention, determines our destination. No need to pre-register; donations accepted for coffee, fruit & donuts. Doors open at 6:30 am; study begins at 7 am. Missed last week? Come next week.

 

Orphan Branch Father’s Day gathering
Anyone interestedis invited to join the dads of Five Oaks Orphan Branch as we celebrate Father’s Day on Saturday, June 18.  We’re meeting for breakfast at North Pole in Newport at 9 am.  Chat with Five Oaks’ adoptive dads about adoption, foster care, Safe Families or being a host family.

 

Food trucks are coming!
We are honoring dads this Father’s Day with visits from two of the Twin Cities’ top food trucks: raMacSammy’s and Tot Boss.  Bring your appetite and some extra cash on Sunday, June 19 for our FUN Team food truck event for Father’s Day.  

 

Save the date: Karen Backpack Drive coming in July
Each summer we work together as a church to gather school supplies and backpacks for the Karen refugee children in St. Paul. Save the date: we will collect these items July 23-31. Supply lists will be available in early July.

 

Global Leadership Summit
GLS is returning to Five Oaks again this August, but this year as a private site, a change that will allow all of us to experience the great leadership teaching. Five Oaks staff will cover the basic volunteer stations. GLS will look much the same inside our building as always, but we are not an advertised site for people outside our church family. Thurs. & Fri., August 11/12, 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Cost: $89. Register at www.fiveoaks.church/gls. Registration password: PV2016. Women’s Ministry seeking teachers for mid-week children’s programming
Adults, parents, students!  If you are available Wednesday mornings from Sept-May, consider teaching or assisting teachers of young kids (birth to age 5) in the Sprouts program.  Teachers and assistants facilitate activities, curriculum, and crafts about Jesus during Women’s Ministry programming from 9 -11:45 am.  Not available every Wednesday?  Consider volunteering a few times a month or being a substitute teacher!  For more information on paid and volunteer positions, please contact Theresa Gulsvig, theresa.gulsvig@gmail.com.

Overeaters Anonymous/H.O.W. 
Our church hosts an ongoing OA/H.O.W. group on Tuesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. This meeting is always open to new members looking to free themselves from the burden of compulsive overeating.

Upward Sports basketball camps offered this summer
We are excited to invite your kindergarten- 8th grade students to a basketball camp at Trinity Lone Oak Lutheran Church and School in Eagan. Our camps are led by our staff and alumni in coordination with Upward Sports Basketball. Two camp options:

-Boys and girls entering Kindergarten through grade 4, July 25 - July 29, 9- 11:30 am.  Cost - $60.

-Boys and girls entering grade 5 through 8, August 1- 5.  Cost - $100.

Please pray for the Decision America Tour coming to St. Paul
Franklin Graham and the Decision America Tour will gather at our state capitol on June16, 12 - 1 pm, for the opportunity to pray together for our nation. This prayer rally is intended tohelp bring healing to the divisiveness in our nation at this critical time. Rally organizers are asking for your help in praying for this event.
