Weekend of April 16+17

Global Leadership Summit

Two years ago Bill Hybels made this recommendation to Global Leadership Summit (GLS) host sites:  focus on your people.  Make sure your congregation can attend and benefit from the GLS experience.

We are doing just that at Five Oaks.  We aim to make the entire GLS experience more accessible to all Five Oakers.

In order to provide this benefit to our congregation, this year Five Oaks will be registering as a GLS private site.  Being a private site will still allow all of us to experience the great leadership teaching - just with fewer formalities.  We will be using our own Five Oaks staff to cover the basic volunteer stations so that everyone can attend the entire GLS. In short, GLS will look and feel much the same on the inside of our building as it always has, but Five Oaks is not an advertised site for the event this year. We are making this event open to our church community.

In addition, we are planning a leadership event for the Friday lunch break that you will not want to miss.  Please mark your calendars now for this event on August 11 & 12 from 8:30 to 4:30.  It will be a time of great learning and connecting with others at Five Oaks.

You may pre-register now with the following link: www.fiveoaks.church/GLS. If you have registration questions, please email Deb Johnson, djohnson@fiveoakschurch.org

Please e-mail Cindy Yarrington, cyarrington@fiveoakschurch.org,  if you have questions on this change to a private site.  We look forward to seeing you in August.

Please pray for middle schoolers this weekend

Please pray for our Bucharest Team
Our Bucharest team left on April 15 for Romania to work at the Project-Ruth School for Roma (Gypsy) children.  Our team will teach classes, organize VBS activities, develop relationships, and help the children learn about Jesus Christ. Pray that God works in our team to have servant hearts and that we are equipped with the words and actions that help sow seeds of faith.

If you have any items to donate to the Silent Auction, please contactTyler Sotebeer, tsotebeer@fiveoakschurch.org by May 1. Great donation ideas include gift cards, gift basket items,  a weekend at your cabin, professional services you can offer, etc. Thank you for helping our students get to Challenge!

Serving is growing. Are you serving?
Our current sermon series speaks of contributing to the needs of others. One of those current needs in our church is for help during Saturday services. Our Usher Team is loyal, dedicated, and...few. Our communion preparation for Saturdays is in need of help as well. Help is needed on any Saturday of the month. Please prayerfully ask God how he may be asking you to serve, and contact office@fiveoakschurch.org with any questions or to help in these areas.

Are you new to Five Oaks?
You may have some questions about who we are and about our mission. We have answers and we’d love to meet you! Please sign up for Discovery, held on May 1, from 11-1 pm. A free catered lunch is included for your family. To sign up, check the Discovery box on the CommunicationCard or email Pam Hawley, phawley@fiveoakschurch.org.
