Weekend of October 1+2

Connections Ministry: The heart of serving

Whether you appreciate being greeted on the weekends by someone at the front door, or you love to chat with the volunteers in the Acorn Cafe, or you like that the church restrooms are clean and picked up, know that the folks who volunteer in these areas do it because they know God will use their care to bring folks to the Church and to Christ.

Are you experiencing the joy of serving someone else and discovering your gifts along the way? Are you giving your kids the blessing of thinking of other people and seeing how God uses them to make someone else feel welcome? Five Oaks needs you to find a place to serve, but the best part is, you will receive so much more than you give.

To learn more about specific needs in Connections, please write ‘Connections’ and your email address on your Communication Card this weekend at church.

Brother Lawrence, in The Practice of the Presence of God, summarizes the heart of our Connections Ministry at Five Oaks: “We ought not to be weary of doing little things for the love of God, who regards not the greatness of the work, but the love with which it is performed.”

Please pray for our students this weekend
Our middle and high school students are at Camp Shamineau this weekend for their annual Five Oaks Students fall retreat called Camp Getaway. Please pray for the Five Oaks students and their friends, plus our adult leaders who are attending with them. Please pray for travel safety and for God to work in their hearts this weekend.

Several kids in our community are in need of a friend!
The Kids Hope USA team is recruiting friends for our kids at Woodbury Elementary.  To be a friend or for more information please contact us at KHUSA@FiveOaksChurch.org

Small Groups sign-ups continue this weekend
God wants us to hear from him through scripture, prayer and his community, the church.  Now is the time to respond to God and join a small group!  Most Five Oakers who participate in a small group find that their small group becomes their church family. Joining a small group is one way to model to family and friends that knowing God and being in community are a high priority.  Small groups will also help you maximize the impact of The Gospel Project for your family. Visit the Small Groups Ministry Cart at the Ministry Wall this weekend to find a group that fits your schedule and life stage, or sign-up on our website at fiveoaks.church/small-groups.
