Leading a church that helps people come to know and ultimately fall more deeply in love with God and other people is Henry’s greatest passion. Henry is a graduate of Northwestern University (St. Paul, MN), Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and Boston University (Doctor of Ministry). He and his wife, Lois, have two married sons and two granddaughters. Henry enjoys watching NFL football with Lois on lazy Sunday afternoons (go Vikes!), eating interesting food with friends, fly fishing (a new passion), playing Settlers of Catan, drinking Cuban coffee (Henry is half Cuban), reading, and watching movies. Henry has an aversion to churchiness, bland food, chores around the house, high humidity (even though he grew up in Miami), and working on Friday nights.
Brian is the brains of the business operation here at Five Oaks. He works diligently to ensure Five Oaks can carry out its mission through effective planning and implementation to reach our goals. Brian attended Bethel University in Arden Hills, MN as well as Washington University in St. Louis, MO and has a degree in Electrical Engineering. He and his wife, Karen, live in Stillwater with their three kids: Lauren, Annika, and Carson. In his spare time, Brian dreams about snowmobiling in the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming.
Dave is happiest when he has the opportunity to make things more efficient and effective, whether it is with budgeting and finances, facilities, or other organizational areas. As Business Administrator, he is responsible for our day-to-day business operations. A mathematics degree from Carleton College and training as an actuary led to a consulting career with corporate clients on business planning, finance, and human resources issues. He later managed those areas for a local non-profit organization. Dave and his wife, Debra, live in Woodbury, and are blessed to have five children and seven grandchildren, all living less than an hour away. Much of their free time is spent enjoying time with family or getting into the woods or out on the water to relax.
Jennifer Clemens hails from the land of the Pittsburgh Steelers, but she has embraced her Minnesota home in the past ten years. She lives in Woodbury with her husband, two kids, hamster and Puggle. Her background is in Psychology and Communications, which causes her to offer advice on any subject under the sun (solicited and unsolicited).
If you feel a nudge to start serving at Five Oaks, Jennifer is your go-to person to get started. As our Connections Director, she will help you find the best serving match to lift your spirits and lift others at Five Oaks.
Family & Discipleship Pastor
Journeying with families to discover the story of God at every age and stage is one of John’s greatest passions. John is a Chipotle fanatic and can often be found squirreled away in a corner somewhere eating a burrito. John and his wife Jill have three kids, Logan, Bennett, and Eden.
John has a Social Work degree from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, and a Master’s degree in Theology from Fuller Seminary. John spent 10 years in full time ministry with Young Life here in the Twin Cities as well as in the Eau Claire area, and most recently served as High School Pastor at Jacob’s Well Church in Eau Claire.
In his spare time, when he’s not eating a burrito, John enjoys cycling, running, manicuring his yard, DIY projects with Jill and most importantly, “scootering” with his daughter and playing backyard home run derby with his sons.
Communications Manager / Ministry Assistant
Peg takes care of our communication process and helps our community stay connected and engaged with God's mission at Five Oaks. Peg also supports Brian Burquest and keeps the Executive Team on track with scheduling and support. Peg has a degree in psychology from Gustavus Adolphus College and a Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota.
Peg and her husband, Chris (or Benny to most), live in Woodbury with their 3 boys — Sam, Nate and Matt, and their two dogs, Molly and Jake. Peg has a teaching background. Despite being a grammar nerd, she loves people, coffee, chocolate, reading, and all things outdoors — cheering for the boys’ teams, hiking in the woods, and especially getting away with family and friends to their cabin in Wisconsin for some water fun or snow play.
