Leading a church that helps people come to know and ultimately fall more deeply in love with God and other people is Henry’s greatest passion. So, to that end, Henry is a lifelong, voracious reader (and listener) on biblical theology, leadership, and Christian worldview. Along the way he earned degrees from The University of Northwestern - St. Paul, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and Boston University (Doctor of Ministry). As a husband, parent, grandparent, and big brother (through Big Brothers/Big Sisters) Henry is particularly interested in partnering with families so that the next generation will know and love God, living on mission for him. If you want to go out for coffee (or other favored beverage) to talk theology or life or to process current events in light of the gospel, Henry’s always up for that (except during Vikings games or when he gets a chance to go fly fishing or spend some time with his grandchildren). Growing up in a Cuban-American home in Miami helps explain his desire for Five Oaks to reflect the diversity of its community (and his love for Cuban coffee). If you’re thinking of checking out Five Oaks, he’d love to answer any questions you might have, so feel free to contact him.

Family & Discipleship Pastor
Journeying with families to discover the story of God at every age and stage is one of John’s greatest passions. John is a Chipotle fanatic and can often be found squirreled away in a corner somewhere eating a burrito. John and his wife Jill have three kids, Logan, Bennett, and Eden.
John has a Social Work degree from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, and a Master’s degree in Theology from Fuller Seminary. John spent 10 years in full time ministry with Young Life here in the Twin Cities as well as in the Eau Claire area, and most recently served as High School Pastor at Jacob’s Well Church in Eau Claire.
In his spare time, when he’s not eating a burrito, John enjoys cycling, running, manicuring his yard, DIY projects with Jill and most importantly, “scootering” with his daughter and playing backyard home run derby with his sons.
