Weekend of June 11+12

Father’s Day: A #donotmiss weekend at Five Oaks

Dads, we know you’ve felt it before but maybe never wanted to admit it: Mother’s Day is often pretty amazing, right? And Father’s Day, well... That’s about to change! Join us on Saturday, June 18 after the 4:30 pm service for a FREE backyard barbecue supper for the whole family! We’ll grill hot dogs and burgers, and we’ll have all the fixings to round out supper. Guys, bring along your favorite steak and we’ll grill it up for you! Then be sure to come back on Sunday, June 19, when we’ll have the MikMart ice cream truck selling ice cream treats before and after our services. Bonus feature: FREE ice cream for all the guys!

Cutting paper for Jesus: The party continues this week!
Do you think cutting paper for Jesus sounds like a party? (We do!) If you enjoy being creative or simply have a desire to help, we’d love your help in  preparing VBS decorations. You don’t need to come with a special set of skills. A willingness to help is perfection! Join us this Sunday, June 12. We’ll start this party at 1 pm in the gym. Not signed up? Come anyway! Walk-ups are welcome!

College-aged small group launches June 26
Hey 18-23-year-olds! You’re invited to join us on Sunday, June 26, for the launch of our young adults’ small group! We’ll have snacks, some fun social activities, and friendship! Whether you’re just home for the summer or will be attending Five Oaks year-round, you’re invited! Interested or know someone who might be? Email Danny Martin.

You can run, but you can’t hide from Henry Michael and Kyler this summer
Your students can look forward to several fun events and an ongoing Bible study planned for Wednesdays during the summer. We won’t meet every week, so be sure to check the schedule here. Questions? Email Kyler or Henry Michael.

Bless your City Grants: We’ll help your small group reach others
One offshoot of our BLESS Campaign is our Bless Your City Grants. These grants are designed to help Five Oaks small groups meet important needs in their city while serving together in the name of Jesus. The objective is to develop an ongoing relationship with those who need to experience God’s love, hope, and provision. Bless Your City Grants are intended to help defray the cost of a project or need. Questions? Or do you have a project in mind? Email Dave Baar.

Ladies and gents: Looking to make new friendships this summer?

Summer can be a great time to meet some new friends, and we’d love to help you do that. Both our men’s and women’s ministries have some great opportunities for connection over the summer. Our men’s ministry, Journeymen, will meet every other Saturday at 7 am, starting June 11. They will meet for Bible study and fellowship at church. Our women’s ministry, Five Oaks Women, will meet for Wednesday morning park playdates, and a Tuesday evening Bible study in the backyard of one of  our volunteer leaders. Both men’s and women’s groups would love for you to show up when you can. Interested? Email Matt Karasek for info on men’s summer offering. Women’s summer info is here.

Help wanted!

Do you have a heart for serving and mentoring kids right here in Woodbury? Are you wanting to serve in a bigger way? If the answer to either of those questions is YES, please prayerfully consider taking on a leadership role in the Kids Hope USA ministry at Five Oaks.  Our partnership with Kids Hope USA and Woodbury Elementary has been running for over 10 years, impacting the lives of more than 100 Woodbury Elementary School students. We need new leaders with a heart for kids and Jesus to step in and take this ministry forward. If God is moving your heart to learn more, please email Dave Baar.

Join us for Easter weekend

As you make plans to celebrate Easter this year, we look forward to worshiping with you either in our building or online. Join us and rediscover the life-changing story of the cross and resurrection.

Saturday, April 16, 4:30 pm – Easter service
Sunday, April 17, 8 am, 9:30 am, 11:00 am – Easter service
Kids’ programing available: Saturday at 4:30 pm and Sunday at 9:30 and 11 am. Livestream available at our Sunday 8 am service and on demand after that: www.fiveoaks.church/easter.

Pause to pray for our Impact partners this Sunday!
Join us on Sunday at 10:15 am in Room 102 to pray through the prayer requests that we’ve received from the missionaries that we support and from our other IMPACT partners.  If you can’t make it this Sunday, we’ll be doing this on the 4th Sunday of each month going forward.   Same time - same place.  Mark your calendars and join us next time!

Easy ways to serve at Easter
If you’re already planning to worship with us at Easter, why not consider jumping in to serve at a different worship service? This is a chance to try a brand new volunteer spot, and it’s also an easy way to help first-time guests and out-of-towners feel welcome at Five Oaks. To try a role in our Connections ministry, click here. To serve with our littlest (and frankly, cutest!) Five Oakers, email Kelly Bauman and she will help you find a spot that fits your schedule.

Knowing your part in the Story of God
In our Story of God class, you will learn how the Bible fits together to tell one story and how you fit into God’s story. You’ll connect with others from Five Oaks in a cohort setting where you will get real, honest answers to your questions about the Bible. This class is a six-week series of one-hour meetings, plus a small amount of daily homework. The next class starts April 10 (no session on Easter). Registration and additional details here.

Ladies, let’s connect and meet each other
Whether you’ve been at Five Oaks for two weeks or 20 years, this is an opportunity to connect with other Five Oaks women. Participants will be placed in groups of four and the “host” will contact the group to schedule the date and time to share a meal together at a restaurant or host home. This will be a time to get to know each other as the host guides the group through intentional conversation. All ages and stages of life welcome! Interested? Register here. Questions? Email women@fiveoakschurch.org.

Thursday evening Lent services: A moment with Jesus
With so many good things competing for our time and attention, we invite you to join us Thursday evenings during Lent to pause and prepare your heart for Easter. Each week we study an encounter with Jesus because even though his story is told in the New Testament, every part of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection was foreshadowed in the Old Testament. This, in turn, underscores how Jesus still shows up for us each day, even during the busiest of seasons. Thursdays, 7-8 pm, now through April 7. Childcare provided.

Share the joy of Easter - Host an international student for the holiday
Could you make room for an extra person in your plans for Easter this year?  The Hospitality Center on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus is working to connect international students with opportunities to spend Easter with families in the Twin Cities.  It’s a great opportunity to connect, learn and share the joy of Easter with someone from another part of the world. More info here: Hospitality Center Easter Hosting

Easter Jam is the jam!
Looking for something exciting to do with the entire family this year for Easter? We would love to see you at Easter Jam on April 3 at 4:30 pm. Take a break from dyeing eggs and stuffing baskets with candy to join us for an unforgettable Easter experience complete with fun, games, and music! Space is limited! Register on Realm today. Easter Jam is geared toward families with elementary children, but all ages are welcome. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family to Five Oaks. We hope to see you there!
