Lead teacher — If you love the crazy things kids say, or watching their faces light up when they see Jesus’ impact, then teaching in Five Oaks Kids is for you! Our lessons are pre-prepped by Five Oaks staff, so you won’t have any required prep! Teachers need to be at least 18; our ministry is birth thru grade 5.
Assistant teacher — If you love playing with kids and helping to get them excited about Jesus, we need you as an assistant teacher in Five Oaks Kids! You’ll help support the lead teacher and make lots of little friends. Volunteers must be 6th grade or older.
Nursery — If cuddling babies never gets old, join us in the nursery where you can cuddle our youngest Five Oakers and give parents an opportunity to enjoy worship distraction-free. Ages 13 and up.
Greeter — If you’re quick with a warm smile and enjoy welcoming new families, our Five Oaks Kids Greeter team needs your gifts at work! You’ll greet new families, help enter their information into our database, and answer their questions.
Prep Volunteer — Responsibilities include preparing materials, mostly crafts, that will be used for weekend activities. This is a great area to serve for people who might not have as much time or time available on the weekends to serve.
Lead Teacher — Use the provided curriculum and schedule to deliver developmentally appropriate lessons in a supportive and inclusive environment. No experience needed. (Sunday Mornings - 9 am)
Assistant Teacher — Working closely with the Lead Teacher, the Assistant will help implement developmentally appropriate lessons using a provided curriculum, while creating a safe and welcoming environment for all learners. (Sunday Mornings - 9 am)
Administrative Coordinator — This behind-the-scenes role is great for someone who loves details and organization and wants to serve remotely. It focuses on managing volunteer availability and weekend schedules for all of the Retreat program offerings. This person will ensure the ministry runs smoothly week to week.
Retreat Volunteer — Responsibilities include 1:1 support with a special needs child. Help to provide extra support and encouragement based on his or her unique needs and strengths. (Sunday Mornings - 10:45 am)
Retreat Ministry Student Support Team — Provide individualized support to students with disabilities to help them connect with God and other students. (Wednesday Nights)
Worship Tech — If you’d rather be behind a computer, this behind-the-scenes role allows you to combine your love of tech with love of worship. Help eliminate distractions and enhance the worship experience for our attenders. Tech options include sound, media, or video. Training provided.
Worship Musicians — Are you musically gifted and have a heart for worship? There’s always room on our team for vocalists and instrumentalists who want to lead others. Audition required.
Communion Preparation — Have you ever helped a friend prepare for a party? This behind-the-scenes role involves setting up the communion stations in the worship center and cleaning up after services.
Communion Server — Set out, refresh, clean up, and serve communion on served communion weekends.
Service Manager — Do others tell you that you’re always the one who’s prepared, great at anticipating what’s coming next? Your organizational skills may serve you well in the role of serve manager, in which you’ll help the weekend team stay organized and on cue.
Small Group Leader — Do you love teenagers and helping them navigate the complex social speed bumps they face in middle and high school? The role of a small group leader on Wednesday nights is calling your name. You’ll lead a group of same-age and -gender students through topics and questions generated by Five Oaks Students staff.
Student Group Assistant — Invest your time in connecting with students and helping them connect to each other; assist a Group Leader in group discussions as they dig into the Bible; help students learn how to make an impact for God’s kingdom.
Welcome Team — If you have a knack for friendly small talk with teens, the Five Oaks Students Welcome Team is beckoning. Help students check in when they arrive, answer questions, and assist with light clean-up between our middle and high school groups.
Hype Team — Work as a team to strategize, set up, and enthusiastically teach and facilitate large group and team building games in the gym. Help strengthen connections and unity within student groups and across grade levels and genders.
Security Team — Help create a safe environment for students and leaders.
Set Up Team — Do you love to finish a checklist of tasks? Help transform the church into a youth-friendly space by adding lighting, drapes, stretch fabric, banners, and table games. Also set up the homework room and the gym. Commitment: 4-5:30 pm on Wednesdays, as many Wednesdays as you have available.
Reset Team — Help reset the church to “weekend ready” after youth group.
Snack Team — If you love having the neighbor kids over for snacks or supper, you might love volunteering on our youth snack team. Volunteers help to prepare, sell, and clean up snacks for students.
Tech Team — This behind-the-scenes role helps keep students’ worship and the youth pastor’s talk flowing smoothly by monitoring mic and speaker volumes.
Worship Team — If you have the gifting to sing or play an instrument and lead students in worship, this role may be a solid fit for you. Your willingness to disciple a student to use their musical gifts is a huge bonus.
Camp Cabin Leader — Care for and supervise a cabin of campers for the duration of camp. Create a safe and positive environment. Lead discussions, help students dig into the Bible, and build relationships. Participate with your cabin in fun team-building and athletic activities.
Serve Central Team Member — At least once a month, we’ll have a Serve Central table in the commons where people can explore ways to get involved serving at Five Oaks. As a team member, you’ll help guide them into their first step—no pressure, no long-term commitment, just a warm welcome and helpful direction.
Photography — Do you love to take pictures at family gatherings? Help capture meaningful moments at church events for use on social media, event promotion, or celebrations.
Social Media Team — If you engage with social media regularly, consider joining our social media team! We provide training, resources, and a well-organized schedule of content to our volunteers.
Decor Team — Do you love decorating for holidays and making a space feel warm and inviting? We have opportunities throughout the year for teams to make plans to update our spaces for Christmas, Easter, and more!
Chalkboard Team — If you find yourself doodling or sketching in your downtime, we could use your skills on this team. Keep our congregation informed of upcoming events by using your creative talents of lettering and illustration on our chalkboards in the commons.
Greeter — If you’re the person who stands at the door and waves to your guests when they’re still in the driveway, and you maybe even stretch out those goodbyes like a solid Minnesotan, you’d love to be a greeter. Help create a welcoming atmosphere that engages guests and welcomes them to Five Oaks.
Usher — If you’re the person who is known to keep your guests well-supplied when they arrive at your home, being an usher may be an easy next step for you. Greet people as they enter the worship center, help attenders find seats, hand out worship guides. Also help with head count and touch up worship center at the end of the service.
Concierge Team — Are you a natural host who likes to make people feel at home? Our Concierge team welcomes those new to Five Oaks, assists them with kids’ check in, answers questions about our church and helps show new folks the ropes.
Safety & Security — Do you have crisis management or first responder experience? Help create a safe environment for people at Five Oaks. If you have a background in law enforcement, military, first responder or crisis management, and have interest in using these skills to serve your church, we’d like to talk to you about joining our team.
Acorn Cafe — Are you a barista in another life? Or maybe just wish you were? Help people get their favorite beverage, snack or continental breakfast items on the weekends. A great way to meet people and welcome new faces to church.
Prayer Card Team — Do you love how meaningful handwritten notes and cards can be in our current digital age? Join this team in sending prayer-filled cards to those in our church body who are in need of prayer. There is also an opportunity within this team to write welcoming notes to folks who are visiting Five Oaks for the first time.
Monthly Missionary Prayer — Join us once a month for a time of prayer for the specific needs of our mission partners. This happens between Sunday services at 10:15 am.
Local Impact — We have several local impact partners right here in the Twin Cities. Click here for more info on each of these. We have many ways to get involved and help further God’s kingdom as nearby as Woodbury, and as far away as Minneapolis.
Global Impact — If you have a heart for travel and bringing hope to those in another part of the world, Five Oaks has several global impact partners across the world.
Small Groups Leader — If you have a heart for discipling others, developing leaders, and stocking your friends' favorite beverages, the role of a small group leader might be a great fit. Our small group leaders are passionate about small groups and are at the core of the disciple-making strategy of Five Oaks Church.
Women’s Ministry Team — Women’s ministry is a fun place to serve and helping with our special events is a great place to start. There are various opportunities to serve including coffee team, greeter, set-up, take-down, etc.
Men’s Ministry Team — We have a variety of opportunities that span a wide range of skill sets and time investment.
Office and accounting support — Do you love a good spreadsheet? Love helping organize a project? We have seasonal office opportunities that may involve mailers and data entry, plus weekend opportunities for preparing our offering for deposit.
