Weekend of February 25+26

Vacation Bible School registration opens this weekend

Hey kids! Join us and become hands-on inventors to discover that we were created by God and built for a purpose.  Each day we will have fun exploring Bible truths, worship with catchy tunes, use our imagination, eat yummy snacks, and make new friends.
June 19-23, 9:15 am — 12 pm. VBS is open to children 3 years old by 9/1/2016 and potty trained, thru 4th grade completed.
Cost: One child = $45;  two children = $90; family max (3 or more) = $100 (Family max is for your "family unit" only and does not include friends or relatives you invite.)

Parents and other fun adults, we also need you! It takes 125 volunteers to make VBS fantastic!  Children and volunteers can register at www.fiveoaks.church.  For questions, contact Cindy Yarrington, cyarrington@fiveoakschurch.org.

P.S. VBS Reunion Party this weekend!
We are celebrating the fun we had had during Cave Quest last June. On February 25 & 26 (during Sunday school) Pre-k through 4th graders will re-live the fun we had and get a sneak peek at this year's theme: Maker Fun Factory. Wear your VBS t-shirts and bring a friend!

Lent Prayer Services begin March 2
Easter is best celebrated when we take time to prepare our hearts through prayer and reflection. Take this opportunity to add something meaningful into your Lent preparation by joining us for Lent prayer services, Thursdays, 6:30-7:10 am, starting March 2. Here you will sweeten your prayer life and weave a richer understanding of how the story of Easter unfolds. This Lent season we will look at the seven final statements of Jesus  and at seven prophecies from Isaiah fulfilled in Jesus.

Church Planting Startup Workshop
Do you watch “Shark Tank?” Dream of investing in a wildly successful startup or starting one yourself? Think of church planting as the ultimate startup. It invests in changing lives for eternity. We’ve asked an extraordinary church planting coach, Mike Brown, to come and share how church planting works and why it’s important for disciple-making. The Workshop is on Saturday, March 11, 9-Noon at a special location nearby. Email Pastor Henry, hwilliams@fiveoakschurch.org for more information or to indicate your interest in attending.

Rooted Women: Sign up for fitness classes at Five Oaks
A new session of fitness classes begins at Five Oaks on March 6! We know that finding stillness in God’s presence can be a challenge.  We use devotions, deep breathing, and yoga poses to quiet not only our body and mind, but also our spirit.  These efforts all aim at making a deeper connection with God during our individual quiet time. Mondays, March 6-April 10; 10-11:15 am.  Room 101. Six classes for $27 if paid in full ahead.  $5 for drop-ins.  Please RSVP to Cristi Hovig,  cristilhoving@gmail.com, or call 612-987-3133.

Arrive Ministries: Help for Refugees
Arrive Ministries is a Christian nonprofit that works on behalf of refugees and immigrants in Minnesota. They strive to build awareness of refugees’ needs and mobilize local churches and community groups to help with these varied needs, building vital relationships in the process. With more info to come, Five Oaks is preparing to partner with Arrive Ministries for several opportunities to get involved. If you are interested, please write “refugees” and your email on your Communication Card.

THANK YOU for all of the diapers from NLFS!
During our Diaper Drive at Five Oaks, February 4-19, we collected between $1000 and $1500 worth of diapers, all to benefit the mothers in crisis pregnancies at New Life Family Services.  Thank you for your generosity!

Five Oaks book club
When:  Second Tuesday of every month (next meetings March 14)
Time:  6:45 pm - discussion at 7 pm
Where:  Five Oaks Church, Fireside Commons
New members are welcome throughout the year. Join anytime. Call or email Dawn Goenner, go.dmge@gmail.com, or (651) 238-1605, to find out what our upcoming titles will be. In March we are reading “Renegade” and “Rise” byRachael Starr Thomson, both from the Oneness Series.

Do you receive DailyLife emails?
The number one way to grow spiritually is through daily Bible reading and reflection.  Whether you’re new to Bible reading or have been doing so for years, we know that it can be difficult to find a devotional that is easy to remain consistent with.  Our DailyLife devotions, written by our volunteer team of writers, correlate directly to the Gospel Project and to the sermon from the previous week. Plus they will give you extra insight for your small group discussions. If you don’t currently receive DailyLife in your email inbox, sign up at fiveoaks.church/dailylife or write “DailyLife” and your email on your Communication Card.
