Weekend of October 21+22

One week remains!

You have the opportunity to help high schoolers experience life transformation. Your bids in our Five Oaks Students online silent auction will go directly toward defraying the cost of transportation to the EFCA Challenge Conference next July for our high school students.  A successful auction translates to a lower total cost per student, therefore making this trip reachable for more students.

While there, students will grow in their faith through amazing speakers, worship, fellowship, and serving in the local Kansas City community.

The auction is full of amazing items. That Cuban dinner, compliments of Pastor Henry, is going fast.  Check out the Timberwolves tickets, kayaking on the St. Croix River, a cabin getaway, percussion lessons with Justin Talk, or maybe even a night of board games with Jonathan Haage!

Click here to go directly to the silent auction.  Bidding closes at 11:45 pm on October 30.

Fall Fun Fest: bring all your neighbors next Friday!
“That was the best night of my life!” Not always what we hear from our kids as they leave church, but these words are from a thrilled child as she left Fall Fun Fest last year.  Fall Fun Fest might just be the craziest night of the year at Five Oaks Church. More than 400 kids & their adults come out to carve pumpkins, play games, and be the fastest to eat a Donut on a Rope. Invite your neighbors, co-workers, teammates, and classmates! Friday, October 27, 6:30-9 pm. And, by the way….it’s all free.

Fall Fun Fest: big fun needs big help
As you know, Fall Fun Fest is one of our bigger annual outreach opportunities in our community. This is an excellent low-risk opportunity for you to invite friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. — folks who maybe don’t have a church home. In order to pull off this high impact event, we need your help! If you are willing to donate treats (homemade or otherwise), help set-up, help supervise a station, clean up after the event, etc. please click here  to sign up. All of the kids in our church, and their favorite neighbor friends, THANK YOU for your time!

Dorothy Day serving opportunity November 4
For many of us, our days are comfortable, with no worries for when we’ll eat again or where we’ll sleep at night.  This is an opportunity to step outside that comfort zone and serve those whose basic needs for food and shelter aren’t guaranteed from day to day. If you are 13 or older, consider joining us to prepare and serve a meal at the Dorothy Day Center. November 4, 9:30-1:15. Email dorothyday@fiveoakschurch.org to register. You must sign up and get a confirmation for this event.

Fall Story of God classes: registrations in full swing
Learn how the Bible fits together to tell one story & discover a relational approached to spiritual growth. Connect with others in a cohort, and ask tough questions. This class is a six-week series of 1-hour cohort meetings, plus daily reading and homework. Several classes starting this fall. Go to storyofgod.church to learn more & register.

Help our Five Oaks kids be their best
Parents love to hear their kids say, “I can’t wait to see my teacher at church!” It’s no secret that kids learn best and have more fun when they know what to expect.  Having a consistent teacher or helper each week is key! If you would like to help kids of any age fall in love with Jesus, please email Cindy at cyarrington@fiveoakschurch.org. Your time and smile have a huge impact on our kids!
