Weekend of September 20+21

Kids Hope USA: Making a difference in woodbury

For more than 10 years, Five Oaks has partnered with Kids Hope USA to provide the gift of mentorship to students at Woodbury Elementary School. A KHUSA mentor offers one hour each week to one student in need of emotional, social, and academic support beyond what s/he normally receives in the classroom and at home. Staff and parents share over and over again that the 1:1 attention and investment of a caring adult improves attitude, focus, performance, and confidence. One hour from you each week can change the trajectory of a student’s life right here in our community! Our ministry is currently recruiting mentors, prayer partners, and support for events and communication. Is God nudging you?
Email KHUSA@fiveoakschurch.org, or visit KHUSA in the commons this weekend.

Interested in Family Dedication, Baptism, or Communion?
Are you the parent of a young child and interested in participating in Family Dedication? Or are you the parent of a child or student who has questions about baptism? Join us on September 28 at 9 am for our Dedication Class for parents and at 10:45 am for our Baptism and Communion Class for kids, students, and parents. Our next Faith Milestone Celebration, which include Dedications and Baptisms, will be the weekend of October 25/26. Email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.

Small groups: Find your place to belong
As our church continues to grow, so do opportunities to get connected to authentic community and grow in your faith. Fall is a great season to join a small group! Most groups meet in homes 1-3 times per month and focus on studying scripture, prayer, fellowship, and almost always involve food. We even have a small group specifically designed for new people that meets at church on Monday nights. To find a group that fits your schedule, get started here. If you’d like more info on the New Here Group, email Peg Benson.

Drive season: Hope for the Brave is first
This weekend we’re kicking off our “Drive Season” with Hope for the Brave, a nonprofit run by Jennifer Flaherty. They host a Dayton’s Bluff Christmas Event, serving kids and families in need in St Paul’s Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood. You’ll find a shopping list at the table where you pick up your worship guide this weekend. Questions? Email impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Beat the Sunday rush. Come on Saturday!
Help us make more room on Sunday mornings by worshipping with us on Saturdays! This fall, we’re offering even more reasons to make Saturday church your new normal with some easy events and hangouts after the 5:30 service. This Saturday, we’re serving SUN-daes on Saturday! This is a great chance to invite your neighbors and get to know more Five Oakers! See you September 20! Questions? Email Laura-Paige Albert, lpalbert@fiveoakschurch.org.

DivorceCare: Help when you need it most
DivorceCare is a safe place where caring people come alongside you as you find healing from the pain of separation or divorce. In this 13-week Christ-centered support group program, you’ll find helpful counsel to manage the emotional turmoil and practical tools for decision-making. The group meets at Five Oaks Church at 7 pm on Monday evenings. You can jump in anytime. Interested? FInd our group and register here.

Parenting Event: Be equipped for every phase
Because every parenting phase is unique, you need resources at each phase. We are hosting a parenting event on October 6 with three different breakout sessions to choose from: 1. Getting to the Root: Why all Behavior Has Meaning, 2. Discipline that Connects with Your Child’s Heart, and 3. Equipping Parents to Have Conversations with Their Kids About Sex. Each session will include live teaching, discussion, and Q & A. Details and registration here.

Have you been impacted by sexual betrayal?
Whether you’ve experienced sexual brokenness in your life, either as the betrayer or the betrayed, it can feel like a lonely path to recovery. Five Oaks has several classes available starting in September to help the betrayed, the betrayer, and the family members or concerned bystanders. More info on these classes can be found here. Want to talk to someone? Email puredesiremen@fiveoakschurch.org or puredesirewomen@fiveoakschurch.org to get started.

Grab the paint cans and rollers!
Five Oaks has an impact partnership with Hope Farms School in Stockholm, WI,  whose mission is to produce Godly men who will be ready for anything after high school. Hope Farm School is a holistic, incarnational ministry that seeks to develop young men in all areas of life. We’re partnering with them for a project on October 4  that involves painting the main house at the farm. We’re hoping to get 20-30 volunteers to jump in so we can complete the task in one day. Questions? Email Joe Baumann, joebaumann3366@gmail.com.  Sign up for this event here.

Cuba - Short-term mission trip (Jan 2026)
Five Oaks is exploring the option to partner with Filter of Hope (John Grimberg) on a short-term mission trip to Cuba.  The tentative dates are January 3-9, 2026.  Adults (18+) and kids 13+ with a parent are welcome.  We need a team of at least 12 for the trip to be possible, and we need to know soon, if we are going to be able to form a team.   If you may be interested and would like to learn more, we’d love to hear from you ASAP.  Please put CUBA on your Connect Card this weekend, send an email to Dave Baar:  impact@fiveoakschurch.org, or John Grimberg: john.grimberg@filterofhope.org.
