Weekend of September 13+14

small groups: find your place to belong

As our church continues to grow, so do opportunities to get connected to authentic community and grow in your faith. Fall is a great season to join a small group! Most groups meet in homes 1-3 times per month and focus on studying scripture, prayer, fellowship, and almost always involve food. We even have a small group specifically designed for new people that meets at church on Tuesday nights. To find a group that fits your schedule, get started here. If you’d like more info on the New Here Group, email Peg Benson.

Beat the Sunday rush. Come on Saturday!
Help us make more room on Sunday mornings by worshipping with us on Saturdays! This fall, we’re offering even more reasons to make Saturday church your new normal with some easy events and hangouts after the 5:30 service. This Saturday, bring a picnic for your family for an easy hangout after the service. We'll supply the beverage and dessert! This is a great chance to invite your neighbors and get to know more Five Oakers! See you September 14! Questions? Email Laura-Paige Albert, lpalbert@fiveoakschurch.org.

DivorceCare: Help when you need it most (starts Monday!)
DivorceCare is a safe place where caring people come alongside you as you find healing from the pain of separation or divorce. In this 13-week Christ-centered support group program, you’ll find helpful counsel to manage the emotional turmoil and practical tools for decision-making. The group meets at Five Oaks Church at 7 pm on Monday evenings, starting September 15. Interested? FInd a group and register here.

Men, join us for a study of Joshua
In this eight-week video series, pastor Louie Giglio will show us that our story today isn’t too far removed from Joshua and the Israelites: we need the same strength, courage, and faith to face the challenges in our lives. We’ll explore what it means to follow God faithfully, no matter what obstacles are before you. Saturdays at 7 am at Five Oaks starting September 20, or Wednesdays, 6:15-7:45 pm, starting on September 24, at Oltman Middle School. Questions? Email Matt Karasek.

Have you been impacted by sexual betrayal?
Whether you’ve experienced sexual brokenness in your life, either as the betrayer or the betrayed, it can feel like a lonely path to recovery. Five Oaks has several classes available starting in September to help the betrayed, the betrayer, and the family members or concerned bystanders. More info on these classes can be found here. Want to talk to someone? Email puredesiremen@fiveoakschurch.org or puredesirewomen@fiveoakschurch.org to get started.

Interested in Family Dedication, Baptism, or Communion?
Are you the parent of a young child and interested in participating in Family Dedication? Or are you the parent of a child or student who has questions about baptism? Join us on September 28 at 9 am for our Dedication Class for parents and at 10:45 am for our Baptism and Communion Class for kids, students, and parents. Our next Faith Milestone Celebration, which include Dedications and Baptisms, will be the weekend of October 25/26. Email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.

Drive season is back! Buckle up!
Our church family loves to step in and help! Over the next few months, we’ll introduce you to local impact partners who are serving our neighbors in need—and we’ll host supply drives to support their work. Each drive is a chance to reflect on the diverse needs around us and spark conversations with your kids, family, and friends about Jesus’ call to love our neighbors. Questions? Email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org.

Calling all the word nerds
Our church has an email devotional called DailyLife, written and edited entirely by volunteers. We currently have openings on our editing team! If you love to edit and want to help shepherd our readership in their walk with Jesus, please email Peg Benson, pbenson@fiveoakschurch.org. This is a great way to serve from home, the cabin, or even a snowbird destination.

Cuba - Short-term Mission Trip (Jan 2026)
Five Oaks is exploring the option to partner with Filter of Hope (John Grimberg) on a short-term mission trip to Cuba.  The tentative dates are January 3-9, 2026.  Adults (18+) and kids 13+ with a parent are welcome.  We need a team of at least 12 for the trip to be possible, and we need to know soon, if we are going to be able to form a team.   If you may be interested and would like to learn more, we’d love to hear from you ASAP.  Please put CUBA on your Connect Card this weekend, send an email to Dave Baar:  impact@fiveoakschurch.org, or John Grimberg: john.grimberg@filterofhope.org.

Thank you to our summer IMPACT interns!
It’s been a full summer for Noah Larson, Isaac Lee, & Elisha Redmann! They interned with Dave Baar & Laura-Paige Albert with our Impact ministry, and they could not be prouder of these three students. God used them mightily for His Kingdom this summer. They were stretched and open to the many facets of how missions can look. From discussions with our missionary partners, a mission trip to Slovakia with our church family, completely running our "Undie Sunday" drive from their promo video to the delivery of donated socks and undies, plus projects onsite at Five Oaks, we have all been blessed by their time and talent. God is so good! Thanks for praying with us for these young men this summer!
