you helped change 340 lives last week
Last Saturday ushered in miles of sunshine and oodles of orange at the Global 6K in Colby Lake Park. Five Oakers, Oakers, and friends showed up to walk, run, roll, and stroll, which means all that orange amassed clean water for 340 people across the world for life! We raised $17,000 for World Vision that day! Many thanks to all the volunteers who arrived early and stayed late to help pull this off! Mark your calendar now for next year’s Global 6K on May 15, 2027. If you register before May 31, you save 50 percent off your entrance fee. (Oh and yes! This is the lowest price you’ll ever see for this event.)
Refine your path through Radical Mentoring
Mentorship can have a significant impact on our lives, no matter our age or stage of life. Radical Mentoring is an intentional pairing of a few men or women with an older, seasoned mentor for 10 months. Through studying Scripture, reading books, discussion, and learning practical tools, mentees grow in their relationship with God and in their capacity to be a better friend, family member, spouse, parent, and employee. Want to know more? Check the men’s and women’s pages of our website. Questions? Email Dan Meehan, dpmeehan@gmail.com (men’s), or Evie Swenson, eviejean@gmail.com, (women’s).
Try a new role and bless our youngest Five Oakers this summer
Summer in Minnesota: short and beloved. Many of our regular weekly FO Kids volunteers will travel and take a well-deserved break from serving, which opens up opportunities for others to step in and bless the families who count on consistent, caring leaders each week. We all know that Kids’ ministry is an important part of how we invest in the next generation, so if you have even a few dates this summer that you’d be willing to be helpful in FO Kids, email Kelly Bauman.
Students' Summer Events: Mark your calendar
Youth group looks a bit different in the summer with lighter programming and an emphasis on connection and big fun at our Students Summer Events nights. These kick off on June 24, with a different theme each week. Mark your calendar now for June 24, July 22, August 5, 12, and 19. (Yes! These are great invite opportunities for your friends!) More details to come. Questions? Email Mindy Wissink.
FAM freezer + your help = endless impact
Have you noticed the new Foster Adopt Ministry (FAM) Freezer just inside the kitchen door? With your help, we’re already serving seven foster families each month with freezer meals and pantry items! The FAM Freezer is a tangible way for you to serve the most vulnerable in our community. Head to the kitchen after any weekend service to grab a casserole dish, soup container, or pantry bag. Fill it up and bring it back! Join our email list to hear about ways to serve and contribute. Email Maggie Butler, mbutler1@fiveoakschurch.org, to get started.
Love our neighbors by donating blood
Because he first loved us, we have the joy of loving others in real, life-giving ways. We invite you to join us in a simple but powerful act of love: Donating blood to help those in need. Your one donation could be the answer to someone’s prayer. A stranger you will never meet will be blessed through your generosity. June 3, at Five Oaks, between 10a and 2 pm. Sign up for a donation time slot here. Questions? Email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org.
Join us in prayer next Sunday
Missionary prayer is next weekend! Join us as we pray for our missions partners between the services on Sunday, May 31, from 10:15-10:45 am in Room 102. We’ll pray over specific requests sent from our local and global missionaries and missions partners. If this Sunday doesn’t work for you, we do it every month on the final Sunday. Not only is the power of prayer important, but also this is a great way to help make our missions partners real to us and get to know them a little better by partnering with them in prayer. Questions? Email Dave Baar.
