clean water for 366 people!
Last Saturday, 366 Five Oakers, friends, and family braved the chilly temps to participate in our annual World Vision Global 6K for Water. We do the 6K each year to remind ourselves that so many people around the world do not have ready access to clean water like we do. Because of your efforts and generosity, over $17000 was raised, which will provide clean water (for life) to 366 people - praise God! We’ll do this again next year on May 16, 2026. Don’t wait - register now and use the discount code GK26 to get 50 percent off! (Offer expires on May 31.)
Families worship together this weekend!
During the weekend of May 24+25, students in grades 2-5 will not have their regular weekend classes. Instead, they will attend the regular worship service with their parents. This is a great opportunity for families to enjoy worshipping together, listening together and moving through stations together. Questions? Email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.
Ladies, two ways to get involved this summer
1. Join us Tuesday evenings, June 3 - July 1, 6:30-8 pm, for a Bible study on 1 John. We will gather each week to discuss what we’re learning, build community and pray. Email Louise Sampson,
sampsonseven@yahoo.com, with questions. 2. If you have younger kids or care for them, join us for playdates at local parks on Wednesday mornings, June 11-August 20, 9:30-11:30 am. Email Sadie Nelson, sadieklar@gmail.com, to be added to the GroupMe notification list.
Love our neighbors by donating blood
At Five Oaks, we see you tangibly loving your neighbors in all sorts of ways, it’s something you don’t just say, but something you do. Because He first loved us, we have the joy of loving others in real, life-giving ways. We’re inviting you to join us in a simple but powerful act of love: Donating blood to help those in need. Your one donation could be the answer to someone’s prayer. A stranger you will never meet will be blessed through your generosity. June 4, at Five Oaks, between 12-6 pm. Sign up for a donation time slot here. Questions? Email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org
Interested in baptism? Two classes to choose from
Baptism is an important faith milestone. Jesus was baptized, and he called his disciples to go into the world to make disciples and baptize them. If you or your kids have questions about baptism, join us for one of two baptism classes on June 8 at 10:45 am. The adults class will be in room 102 (register here), and the class for kids and students (and their parents) will be in the west end of the commons (register here).
Summer youth group
The youth group is taking a short break from Wednesday programming in June, as that is our month of summer camps. Please join us in praying for all the camp details and for transformation in the hearts of students who are signed up to attend! And mark your calendar—summer youth group kicks off on July 2. Every week of summer youth group has a new theme! More details to come! Questions? Email students@fiveoakschurch.org.
You can serve moms and families in crisis - New Life Family Services
We have a long-standing partnership with New Life Family Services (NLFS) and their mission to serve moms and families who are facing an unplanned pregnancy, in the name of Jesus. NLFS has a couple of upcoming ways for you to be a part of this mission. The first is “The World’s Largest Diaper Drive 2025” - between May 18 - June 1, you can drop off diapers for NLFS at Woodbury Lutheran. The second is “The Diaper Bundling Bash.” This is a family-friendly event focused on bundling donated diapers for distribution, and includes a carnival for the kids and a tour of their new St Paul facility. More details are available here: New Life Family Services - Events
Got time to help out in Five Oaks Kids this summer?
Summertime in MN is so beautiful! Many of our year-long volunteers will have vacations and activities that make serving in their regular roles with Five Oaks Kids difficult. This opens up many opportunities for you to lend a helping hand and help out our current volunteers. Our staff does all the lesson preparation and set-up for you, so you can focus on connecting with kids. If you are willing to help out this summer–once a month, once a week, or once a summer, please email Kelly Bauman, kbauman@fiveoakschurch.org.
Thanks for your generosity, Five Oaks!
In honor of moms and Mother’s Day, many of you donated food and supplies for the MOMS Program food shelf. The leaders of the MOMs Program, including Five Oakers Brent and Carie Jorgenson, send their thanks. Because of your generosity, the food shelf has been fully restocked, and moms and families in our community are able to tap into those much-needed resources. If you’d like more information about the MOMS Program, please email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org, and we’ll get you connected.
