Weekend of June 20+21

We love all the dads!

Being a dad means showing up—in big moments, small moments, and all the moments in between. It may mean fixing things, grilling things, lifting heavy things, reading a bedtime story, helping with homework, or teaching your teen how to parallel park. This Father’s Day weekend, we’re celebrating the dads and father figures who love, lead, and faithfully invest in others. We invite all the guys present this weekend to grab a free soda in the commons, enjoy our bluegrass-inspired worship set, and let us celebrate you! This is a great weekend to invite your dad to join you at church!

Please pray for Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is coming up June 22–25, and we’re expecting around 160 kids to join us for four exciting mornings of fun, friendship, and learning about Jesus. We invite our church family to pray for every child, volunteer, and family involved. Pray that kids would experience God’s love in a meaningful way, build lasting relationships, and that many would take steps toward faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you for partnering with us in prayer as we trust God to do great things through VBS!

Camp Getaway was unforgettable!
This past week, 65 middle schoolers took Wood Lake Camp by storm for Five Oaks Camp Getaway. Camp shenanigans were organized and discipled by 17 adults and boosted by 12 high schoolers who offered up a week’s time to keep these kids alive, thriving, growing in their faith, and running hard. Middle schoolers learned and grew from the teaching of Ariel Koning, who taught each day about how we see Jesus foretold in the Old Testament. We praise God for all the ways he showed up in the lives of students this week!

Students' Summer Events: Mark your calendar
Youth group looks a bit different in the summer with lighter programming and an emphasis on connection and big fun at our Students Summer Events nights. These kick off on June 24, with a different theme each week. Mark your calendar now for June 24, July 22, August 5, 12, and 19. (Yes! These are great invite opportunities for your friends!) More details to come. Questions? Email Mindy Wissink.

Start your July 4th by helping feed our hungry neighbors
Dorothy Day is always the first Saturday of every other month, and this July is no different! If you’d like to make a difference to our neighbors in St. Paul, join us to prepare and serve a meal at the Dorothy Day Center on Saturday, July 4,  9:30 am-1:15 pm. Interested? Email Tim Wiant, wiynts4riverfalls@gmail.com. Tim will get back to you with confirmation of your spot on our team for this date. Volunteers need to be at least 13 years old.

Make worship part of your holiday weekend
As you make plans for the Fourth of July weekend, join us for worship on Saturday, July 4, at 4 pm. We’ll hold one Saturday service that day, leaving plenty of time for family gatherings and evening celebrations. Our Sunday service times remain 9 and 10:45 am. (Yes! We’ll be back to our regular schedule of four worship services the following weekend!)

The people you influence deserve your best
The best leaders never stop growing. That’s why we’re hosting the Global Leadership Summit on August 6–7. Over two inspiring days, you’ll gain practical leadership tools and a fresh perspective from world-class speakers, including Craig Groeschel, Priscilla Shirer, Arthur C. Brooks, Jim Collins, and Candace Cameron Bure. The Summit is also a great opportunity to invite a friend, coworker, or neighbor who may never attend church but wants to grow as a leader.. Invest in your leadership and the people you influence every day. Register here. Questions? Email Emily Brewer.

Do you have the gift of hospitality and welcoming?
Connections Ministry offers volunteers the chance to help make our weekends happen by greeting, ushering, providing safety and security, serving as a concierge, or working at the Acorn Cafe. If you have about one hour a month to spare, and you enjoy welcoming people and helping point them in the right direction, Connections may be a great place for you to serve, and summer is a great time to try out a new role! We’d even love to add you to our sub lists. Email Beth Harmening to get started.

Introducing our Impact interns!
Praise God for calling three students to serve as Impact interns this summer.  Over the next 10 weeks, Michael Bennett, Annika Burquest, and Simon Selbitschka will be learn about God’s call to serve our neighbors in need. They will be take part in a six-week missions course, meet with Five Oaks-supported missionaries, work with staff and volunteers on internal projects, and with our Impact champions on service projects in our community. Please keep Michael, Annika, and Simon in your prayers!

Please pray for Impact Partner Barb Hawn
Five Oaker Barb Hawn is one of our Impact Partners in her role as a leader with an organization called Moms In Prayer. Barb works with churches and leaders throughout Asia to mobilize and train groups of moms to engage in powerful prayer for their families, schools, and communities. Barb is currently on a three-week trip to Mongolia, where she is leading two major prayer conferences and training new leaders in the region. Please pray for Barb, and for the country of Mongolia, that it will be transformed through the powerful prayer of moms.
