let’s pray for our summer mission trip
We’re sending a team of 16 Five Oakers and Oakers to Slovakia this summer to serve alongside Josiah Venture, a mission organization seeking to ignite a movement of God among the youth of Central and Eastern Europe. Partnering with a local church, our team will help lead an evangelistic youth camp where conversational English and sports open doors to share the gospel. You received a prayer card today with the team members’ names. Please pray for our team, traveling July 1–14, for our Slovak ministry partners, and for the students who will come to camp to hear and experience the gospel. During worship services this weekend, we’ll pray over the team and send them out. (Here’s a link to the prayer card!) Questions about this ministry or the trip? Email Laura-Paige Albert.
Let’s pause to pray for our Impact partners between services
Mark your calendar! On the last Sunday of each month, we gather to pray through specific prayer requests that we’ve received from the missionaries whom we support and our Impact partners. Join us at 10:15 am in Room 102 each month. Our next gathering is this weekend—June 28 —see you there! Questions? Email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org .
Reminder: July 4 weekend schedule change!
As you make plans for the Fourth of July weekend, join us for worship on Saturday, July 4, at 4 pm. We’ll hold one Saturday service that day, leaving plenty of time for family gatherings and evening celebrations. Our Sunday service times remain 9 and 10:45 am. (Yes! We’ll be back to our regular schedule of four worship services the following weekend!)
Worship as a family next weekend
Students in grades 2-5 will join their families in the worship service rather than attending their regular Kids Ministry programming on July 4+5. This special weekend provides a unique opportunity for children to experience “big church” alongside their parents, grandparents, and caregivers. We encourage families to worship together, engage in the service, and use this experience as a springboard for shared conversations on what they’re learning about their faith.
Start your July 4th by helping feed our hungry neighbors
Dorothy Day is always the first Saturday of every other month, and this July is no different! If you’d like to make a difference to our neighbors in St. Paul, join us to prepare and serve a meal at the Dorothy Day Center on Saturday, July 4, 9:30 am-1:15 pm. Interested? Email Tim Wiant, wiynts4riverfalls@gmail.com. Tim will get back to you with confirmation of your spot on our team for this date. Volunteers need to be at least 13 years old.
Up next: High school camp. Yes, you can still help!
Our high schoolers are headed up to Wood Lake Camp for a week of connecting with God, deepening friendships, and making lasting memories. We’re still in need of some adults to serve as cabin leaders for that week (July 12-17). Would you be interested in being a part of this experience and making an impact in the lives of some awesome students? Email Cody Baader for more information.
Students' Summer Events: Mark your calendar
Youth group looks a bit different in the summer with lighter programming and an emphasis on connection and big fun at our Students Summer Events nights. These events will feature different theme each week. Mark your calendar for July 22, August 5, 12, and 19. (Yes! These are great invite opportunities for your friends!) Questions? Email Mindy Wissink.
The people you influence deserve your best
The best leaders never stop growing. That’s why we’re hosting the Global Leadership Summit on August 6–7. Over two inspiring days, you’ll gain practical leadership tools and a fresh perspective from world-class speakers, including Craig Groeschel, Priscilla Shirer, Arthur C. Brooks, Jim Collins, and Candace Cameron Bure. The Summit is also a great opportunity to invite a friend, coworker, or neighbor who may never attend church but wants to grow as a leader.. Invest in your leadership and the people you influence every day. Register here. Questions? Email Emily Brewer.
Serving kids in our community with your God-given talents
Do you have the gift of Administration or Leadership, or do you just love to serve kids? Our Kids Hope USA ministry is looking for 2-3 additional volunteers to help with all of the planning needed to make our Kids Hope mentoring program at Woodbury Elementary School such an impactful ministry. Roles include communicating with the school and volunteers, recruiting and training mentors, organizing and supporting events, and more. Interested? Email Dave Baar, impact@fiveoakschurch.org.
