See you at the island this weekend!
It's rare we tell you to stay away from Five Oaks, but here it is: all of our regular services are cancelled this weekend due to our Outdoor Baptism Celebration Sunday, August 16 at 10 am. Bring chairs or a blanket for your family. We'll start with two worship songs and move straight to baptisms. Join us to celebrate the 20+ people who are taking this important step in their faith journey! More baptism service details (including the address) are available on our website here. You'll find the baptism service guide here.
Students, join us for a summer Worship Night
Connecting with God through worship is a highlight of camp, and during our school year, so we’re taking this Wednesday night, August 19, to have a Worship Night! Doors open at 6:30 pm for middle and high schoolers. Incoming sixth graders: you’re invited, too! Come ready to pray, sing, and point your hearts and lives to God! Questions? Email Kyler Albert.
Growing kids starts with great leaders
Every weekend is a chance to shape a child’s faith, and sometimes that means navigating busy classrooms and big personalities. Whether you’re already serving in Five Oaks Kids or considering joining the team, this training will give you practical tools. Join us on Saturday, August 22, 12–2 pm, for our Kids Volunteer Training & Appreciation Event, featuring a professional educator who will share effective classroom management strategies. Details and registration are here.
Ladies, join us for our Fall Kickoff Potluck
Are you curious about what’s being offered in Women’s Ministry? No matter where you are on your journey - you're invited! Let us help you find the right fit. We'd love to walk with you. Whether this is your first time or you have participated for years, we hope you will come! We will share a potluck picnic, hear a short message, and then have time to ask questions and learn more about all Five Oaks Women has to offer. Join us for delicious food, see old friends, make new friends, and enjoy an evening out! August 25, 6:30-8:30 pm. Details and registration here.
Know a family who is fostering or adopting?
Our FAM (Foster & Adopt Ministry) Freezer has been serving families since April—and thanks to your generosity, it’s well stocked! Now we need your help reaching the foster and adoptive families, in our community, who could benefit. They may be your neighbors! Help us spread the word so these families can receive practical support as they care for children who have experienced trauma. To share a referral, email Maggie & Michael Butler, mbutler1@fiveoakschurch.org.
Bringing Sunday into Monday
Living out our faith at work isn’t always easy. Whether you're looking for opportunities to share your faith, encourage a co-worker, or simply worship Jesus through your everyday work, you’re not alone. We want to be a church that understands the opportunities and challenges we all face in our everyday work so we can equip each other for the places God has already called us. We invite you to take a short survey from us to help us better understand the unique challenges of sharing the gospel in your workplace. (Start by clicking here.) It takes just a few minutes, and because we'll check in again down the road, we'll ask for your name and email. Your responses will help us better understand the challenges you face and equip our church to live out our faith every day. Questions? Email Levi Case, lcase@fiveoakschurch.org.
Guys, it’s Pancake Breakfast time!
Our Journeymen Ministry is looking forward to another great year of ministry. We are kicking off the year with our annual Pancake Breakfast on September 12. Join us to hear about the ministries that Journeymen participates in throughout the year, enjoy pancake and sausage, hear God's Word from our very own Levi Case (Pastoral Resident of Five Oaks Church), and enjoy hanging out with other men. Whether it’s your first or tenth Journeymen season, don’t miss this opportunity to reignite your faith journey in our men’s ministry! Details and registration here.
Story of God classes start in September
Ever wondered how the whole Bible fits together? The Story of God class walks you through Scripture's big picture—from creation to new creation—in a way that's approachable for anyone, whether you're just exploring faith or have followed Jesus for years. Over eight weekly sessions of about an hour each, you'll discover the one story God has been telling all along. Fall classes begin in September—we'd love to have you join us. Find a class and register here. Email Danny Martin, dmartin@fiveoakschurch.org, with questions.
Help a missionary family feel welcome while home
When our global Impact partners return to Minnesota for a few months, practical help can make their time stateside a little easier. Teddy and Courtnie will be in the Woodbury area October 20–December 10, tentatively, and are looking for a few items they can borrow or use while they’re here. They’re currently looking for two toddler car seats, use of a vehicle, and a Pack ’n Play. Dave Baar has specific details on timelines and their needs. If you can help with any of these needs, or have questions, email Dave Baar at impact@fiveoakschurch.org.
Serve your neighbor in need at Dorothy Day
